Taken on the return leg of a boat cruise to the Grey Glacier, Patagonia. I had retreated back into the warmth of the cabin and was just starting to feel a bit of warmth back in my bones when I saw the dappled light catching the Towers of Paine. I grabbed my camera and headed back out into the cold.
This image picked up 15th place and a silver award at the NZAPA awards in 2024.

I had been waiting for clear skies and settled weather for 3 years to capture this image of the Milky Way stretching over the mountains of New Zealand's central plato - Mt Tongariro, Mt Ruapehu and Mt Ngauruhoe.
The pinnacle of this trip was the KPI 9 aurora that was seen by so many around the world. This final image was shot around 5:30 in the morning, the main intensity of the aurora having died down by this stage. What I love about this image is that I also captured a rare Stable Auroral Red Arc (SAR arc), as well as the aurora Australis and milky way stretching over the mountains.
